I'm looking for books where everything looks normal on the surface. People are polite, conversations seem friendly, and life goes on as usual – but there's a quiet feeling of emotional distance underneath it all.
Not horror. More subtle psychological tension, loneliness, hidden resentments, or people slowly drifting apart without openly talking about it.
Cafés, small towns, workplaces, families, apartment buildings – any setting is fine. I'm mostly looking for atmosphere and character dynamics rather than big plot twists.
