I'm not looking for a book that talks about it from a medical perspective. I'm looking for something that looks at the events as the crisis unfolded, how it all started, how people reacted, what "essential workers" were doing, personal stories, what governments (particularly the US, as that's where I am from) did to address it. That sort of thing.

Basically, something like the book And The Band Played On but about COVID-19 instead of AIDS.

**Wuhan Diary** by Fang Fang – Chinese author and journalist chronicles the first weeks of the pandemic in the city it all began. Not american, but I thought it was a great read and super interesting how people in Wuhan expierienced the first outbreak while knowing absolutely nothing about it yet.

Cabin Fever, about what happened those first few weeks on cruise ships specifically was EXCELLENT.
