This is the first celebrity memoir I’ve ever read and it is amazing. I know it is critically acclaimed and a best seller— with reason!
Now I’m curious— are there other memoirs out there like this one? Doesn’t have to be from someone in pop culture.
I am a picky reader. I really enjoyed her tone and writing style. Obviously the title and subject matter are compelling topics as well. She really hit it out of the park.

I do intend on reading her novel, but right now I’m curious about memoirs.

    Thanks!

I enjoyed *The House of My Mother*

Writing style is different but everyone should read *The Glass Castle* and *Into Thin Air*

I really enjoyed these celeb memoirs as well: Jessica Simpson, Jojo (not siwa lol) Over the Influence, Minka Kelly, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears… I haven’t read it yet, but I think Hayden Panattiere’s will be like Jennette’s.

Pageboy by Elliott page and the women in my by Brittany Spears both deal with child stars and abuse in the industry. I think elliot is the better writer of the two and Brittany ommited some things for her image’s sake but of you want to read more about growing up famous they are good.

A good memoir without child stardom but feels kinda similar (child sexualized at young age, forced to grow up too quick, etc) would be somebody’s daughter by Ashley c. Ford.

And also jennette McCurdy released a new fiction book recently. It’s called half his age. It’s her tone for sure but warning it is graphic. I think it’s supposed to gross you out with the sex scenes. Haven’t finished it yet but so far it’s good.

Kathleen Hanna’s memoir *Rebel Girl* kind of had a similar vibe to me? She was the frontwoman of Bikini Kill, which was foundational in the feminist punk movement in the 90s. Reading it was a reminder that sexism and women’s rights have come a long way in the last few decades. Bikini Kill got so much shit for being a girl group, and was almost constantly being sexually harassed at gigs. Hanna herself is a sexual assault survivor. She was also buddies with Kurt Kobain.

I am enjoying Cheer the F**K Up: How to Save your Best Friend by Jack Rooke.

It’s brilliant. Part memoir part advice guide. It’s honest, and funny, and heartwrenching, I can’t recommend it enough.

*Born a Crime* by Trevor Noah. He’s a great writer, amazing memoir.
