Odd Thomas was one of my favorite book series.
I’ve tried to get into other books since having kids, but it’s hard to filter through everything vs back in the day going in the library and just knowing by holding the book.
Any suggestions like this series? Admittedly I’ve always loved Dean Koontz but I used to be a battle of the books nerd, so I’m open to a variety of things.

Dean Koontz has this weird way of making supernatural stuff feel grounded you know? For similar vibes maybe try something by Stephen Graham Jones – his horror has that same everyday guy dealing with weird shit energy 😂
The Dresden Files might work too if you want urban fantasy with a protagonist who’s constantly in over his head. Both have that mix of humor and genuine creepy moments that made Odd Thomas so good
Since you mentioned filtering through books is harder now – audiobooks saved my reading life when I got busier with work stuff 💀
For some reason, in my mind, the Odd Thomas books are close to the John Dies at the End series by David Wong (Jason Pargin).
