I want to read a book from every country, recommend me one from yours!

I want to have read a book from every country at some point in my life and i'm compiling a list. I want the book to give a realistic insight on life in that country. Here are the requirements. If the book is a classic in your country that would be considered a part of the modern canon, even better.

1 author has to be from this country and have lived at least a big part of their life there.

2 book must take place in this country for the most part

3 I would prefer it if the book takes place after 1950

4 the more it gives a real description of life in your country the better.
