    Hey r/booksuggestions! I'm participating in my local library adults' summer reading program! There's a handful of categories that I'm at a bit of a loss of what to seek out, and thought you good folks would be willing to help. I've been reading mostly fantasy and fiction lately; some of these subjects are going to be genres I haven't delved into or know very little about, so I'm hoping for some recs that I can go through and add to my reading list. Also, please feel free to contribute a recommendation that's outside of these requests, I want to have a fatty 'Books to read' list. To help my brain keep things organized, can you say what category your rec is for? I'd love to know why you liked/ are recommending it: great story or characters, informative, conjures good mental images, etc.
    I, in particular, do not to well with sad content, for whatever that's worth mentioning. I do like anything culinary or food/ baking science.

    Categories I need recs for:
    -Water
    -Time Travel- my brain does not do, what I call 'Time math' very well, so super jumpy timelines are confusing for me. I was able to enjoy most of Dr Who
    -Soothing
    -Happily ever After / Happy for Now
    -Queer/trans voices, my partner is Two-Spirit, special consideration for book about and/or by Two-Spirit + Indigenous author 🦄
    -Hard to love protagonist
    -Diaspora
    -FIFA world cup country- I've been wanting to learn about Algeria, but I'm open to any country
    -Animal; I love crows, owls, deer, hummingbirds.
    -Myth & Legend; some cryptid stuff would be cool! Extra points for Pacific Northwest related
    -Historical: I'd love some old school women bad-assery!
    -Women's sports
    -Outer space
    -Honorable Mention* * Longlisted or shortlisted for a literary prize
    -Eye-opening
    -Unplug* *step away from devices and read distraction free
    -Pacific Northwest Black, indigenous or POC author
    -Suggested by a library worker;
    -Suggested by an Independent book seller;

    The last two, I will likely go on a little daytime adventure to obtain these, side quest style. I'm still happy to get recs from these ppl if you are on reddit, though!
    There's a category of Own Choice as well, I might reread a favorite; but rereading a known book feels lazy somehow if I'm pushing myself to complete the list for the purpose of consuming new knowledge and stories.
    Thank you all so much in advance!!
