I recently read the Ruling Class by Jennifer Lynn Barnes which is about a Fixer in D. C. this in turn led me to starting a rewatch of the Shondaland show Scandal and I'm hoping to find more books in this realm.
What I enjoy about the show/hope to find in book form
- Ensemble cast with strong platonic relationships
- People on top of their field making the impossible possible
- Women too smart for me to keep up with
- Slow burn or will-they-won't-they romance sub plot
- Quick witted dialogue
- Being in the room where it happens –> politics
- Evil gay character in loving relationship
- People fighting the good fight (or trying to)
I don't like Fantasy so I'm asking to not be recommended anything in that genres. edit: Other than that I'm open to all genres but would prefer fiction books over nonfiction
