I’m looking for something sci fy that is not a heroes journey. My dad and I both like Gaiman and Octavia Butler, and growing up he read us the hunger games. My dad likes Neal Stephenson and Scott Siegler, and he’s read a fair few tech sci fy. I do not love heroes journeys or super space sci fy (like Star Wars/trek but I do like district 9), and mostly have read dystopian or pandemic sci fy.
I’m trying to find something completely new to both of us to surprise him with for Christmas. I’m doing this for my whole family but he’s the toughest one for me since I don’t read a ton of sci fy that would overlap for us. I trend more YA and he trends more adult- we’re both adults though lol.
Edit: my dad is anti Amazon so I’m going to the bookstore in about an hour so I’m on a time crunch too 😅
