I’ve always enjoyed the book Roots but my favorite section is the part at the start, and in depth look at the life, internally and externally, of a person growing up in an tribal culture. I’ve also already read The African, the book that Roots “borrowed” a bunch of that early section from.
It doesn’t need to be African, just a at least semi researched historical fiction narrative set in a tribal culture.
