Hi everyone! My bookshelf is mostly full of Junji Ito manga, guide books about birds and mushrooms, various other books about birds, murder mysteries, locked room mysteries, and old-timey horror story anthologies I seem to buy like fifty of each time I visit a book shop, so I’m looking for more recommendations!
While I prefer horror that’s more on the gory/psychological/supernatural side, I do appreciate a good old zombie book (I’m finally getting round to reading the rest of The Enemy series by Charlie Higson after being obsessed with the first book as a teen) and that specific genre of “we thought it was a horror story but it turns out everything has a perfectly logical explanation.”
For birds: I just like books about birds. I’m less into the technical aspect (I’m a pro chicken and pigeon keeper) and more into stuff like silly commentaries on birds, deep dives into the history of birds, and anything to do with NZ birds.
Any recommendations along these lines are appreciated (and horror manga recommendations for anything that isn’t Junji are also appreciated!) and happy new year! May we all read good books in 2024!
