Looking for books similar to the Valerian movie. I want planet hopping and unique worlds and aliens.

I have read Altered Carbon series and loved those. Also I have read most of The Expanse. I probably should do a reread of Hitch Hikers Guide, but am looking for something a touch more serious than that.

Someone recommended Hyperion, so I’ve got that on hold.
