I saw a tiny thumbnail image of *The Mystery of the Yellow Room* [here](https://postimg.cc/hJTgV4Zp) (it’s a blurry image) and was struggling to resolve the title, the author, and the publisher, but I figured most of it out.

A reverse image search revealed it to be a wonderful painting called “[The Harp of Erin](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%27The_Harp_of_Erin%27,_oil_on_canvas_painting_by_Thomas_Buchanan_Read.JPG)”. I expected some amazing mythical or historical tome—only to discover a book that I’m actually *even more* excited about instead! (The book includes maps and diagrams for the reader to help them figure it out; the story was extolled by Agatha Christie using Hercule Poirot’s voice!)

I did my best to research *what* the connection is between painting and book. I can find *none*. Ireland? Erin? Small harps? Maybe, I haven’t read the story yet 😂

This isn’t classical music where paintings splashed beneath curly fonts was once the rage (perhaps still is). And this isn’t a Mediterranean or gothic tale either.

I was unable to find a larger version of this cover, but turns out, this book has lots of covers, one of my favorites being [this here](https://postimg.cc/CdDDdb4q)—instantly taking me back to the artwork of Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, The Three Investigators, even Alistair MacLean.

So what gives? Have you found book covers that have made you scratch your head at their “non-sequitur-ness”? I could probably think up a few more 😀
