Ok, I going to be honest I hate medieval fantasy…most of the time. I just can’t stand how every YA/adult fantasy book has that same setting, and I can’t escape it. I just find it repetitive and contrived, and don’t get me wrong I’m sure there are great books within this genre but the abundance of jt ruins it for me. Please I’m being y’all to expand more, I mean look at the middle grade books. And by golly they just have cooler and more interesting concepts, and that’s sad to me. Why do these “kids” books have more of a wide range of fantasy sub genres than the adult books do? Do writers think adults won’t take their novels seriously enough? I mean Harry Potter and Percy Jackson have a lot of adult fans, I think there’s definitely a market for books like that for adults. But why isn’t there? I guess I’m just mad that I’ve trying to find fantasy books that I would like for 3 days straight and nothing is sticking out to me. I just want a book that’s on my reading level that gave me that same feeling that I got in middle school where I did nothing but read. I’ve recently read the Hunger Games for the first time, and it gave me that feeling again but I want to read something for my age group. That isn’t medieval or has gross amount of smut in it…why is this so hard.
