    Blood Secrets by Craig Jones.

A friend gave me this book for Christmas and I consumed it in three days. Holy guacamole.

The story was riveting. The narrative style was spare, yet elegant. The characters were, to say the least, complicated. The plot twist was wholly unexpected; the ending haunts me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who’s a fan of murder mysteries and/or the true crime genre. (It’s fictional, but reminded me of some true crime cases I’ve come across.)

I looked up the author afterwards, expecting him to be highly acclaimed. Turns out, this is his most well-known book out of only three that he’s published. I think I even read somewhere that the book is out of print, so I’m really glad my friend thought of me when she was going through the thrift store bookshelf lol.

What are some underrated books/authors you’ve read, and why would you recommend them to other readers?
