Going in I knew it was a dark book but the whole read really did feel like reliving middle school. Reading it as an adult made me think it only takes a little bit of chaos to spiral into darkness within. That’s why we need to prepare young boys to control themselves emotionally and mentally in all situations.

Weirdly, when a group of young teenage boys were shipwrecked, they cooperated and built shelters and took care of their injured. Nothing like Lord of the Flies.
Maybe the moral is, English Public Schoolboys soon turn feral
