When I was a kid, my mom got the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage, and the Children of the Lamp series by PB Kerr to listen to in the car. But those might be too much for a four year old? There’s always the Bunnicula series.

Upside-Down Magic
Funny enough to entertain a 4yo even if they don’t follow everything, and engaging for an 8yo. Each book in the series is short, which is a plus. Reduces your need to remind kids what happened previously over and over. Great narration.

Sal and Gabi Break the Universe by Carlos Hernandez! It’s really fun for both kids and adults, and the audiobook is great
