What book can I recommend my friend to make him get into reading?

My Friend asked me to recommend him some titles so he can start reading. He likes Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings so something along the same lines as that would be great! Anyone any ideas?

Maybe a light novel? They are usually short and easy to read. So good for “beginners”.
