Quite a while ago I posted on here looking for a book recommendation and was not disappointed (someone recommended Red Rising and now it’s in my top 5 all time) but I need help again… I just finished Broken Earth by Jemisin and didn’t love it so looking for something to get me “back on track”

Some of My Favs are (I’ve read a lot of Sanderson so don’t need Sanderson recs)

    2. Inheritance Cycle – Paolini
    3. Red Rising
    4. Stormlight Archive
    5. Mistborn

    7. Farseer and LiveShip
    8. Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel
    9. Redwall
    10. Name of the Wind/Wise Man’s

Let me know! I’m looking for a series to get into again and need some help!

    1. Have you read the rest of Realm of the Elderlings? Definitely rec going for Tawny Man trilogy (and all that follows)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George RR Martin (smaller scope story in Westeros following a hedge knight)

Do you like manga? If so, Berserk by Kentaro Miuri

I have not read it yet but am about to venture in Memory, Sorrow, Thorn by Tad Williams and have only heard excellent things

Charlie Jane Anders writes sci-fi and fantasy book reviews for the Washington Post (also, All the Birds in the Sky is a wonderful book). When I get stuck, I start looking through her backlog of articles.

      Crystal Cave for “historical” fantasy.
Dresden Files for delightful modern fantasy pulp.
Book of Three and Wrinkle in Time for YA.
Bone and Lucifer for graphic novels.
Once and Future King for philosophical fantasy.

    4. For sci-fi, I recommend:

      Raft by Stephen Baxter
      Revenger by Alastair Reynolds
Medusa Chronicles by both of them

For a series, Animorphs! I know it sounds like a silly episodic kids’ story at first. But when you read further in the series, you get totally hooked. It comes with pretty cool sci-fi concepts and themes related to war and morality. I’ve laughed and cried over this series.
