I know I know, audiobooks, ugh.

The short is I’m finding I’m able to stay engaged and finish more books I’ve put off if I’m combining reading and listening depending what I’m doing.

    The long is:

I have a long drive and travel for work, and then can’t listen to things at work, but can sneak a few minutes here and there to read.

I can’t read at home, or rarely, not enough to keep engaged in something. Sometimes can listen while folding laundry, etc., but I have two toddlers, so not always an option.

My solution I’ve come up with is downloading an audiobook and e-book of the same book from my local library app. I then listen to the book while driving 3 hours to and from work (this is about 4-5 times a month) and then read the e-book while I’m gone for work for 3-5 days.

-I just finished Count of Monte Cristo
-I am waiting with the e-book of Papillon on hold
-I love The Sun Also Rises, but the audio version my library has is HORRENDOUS.
    -currently listening to/reading Dune.

What next? I’d love some classics but it’s tough this time of year because students just got their syllabi and take out a lot of classic literature. But I can put some things on hold. Moby Dick is gone for the month, but I did listen to “Why Read Moby Dick?” Which was fun 😂

I’d love some suggestions of reading staples, especially if you’ve listened to an audiobook version you love. Particularly literature a mid-sized regional library is likely to have. Also, any opinions on Audible, is it worth getting or should I exhaust my library app first.

I know this is all over the place, but thank you to anyone who has suggestions!
