My lifelong friend has ALS and is coming to the end of his journey.
In addition to his illness, he is painfully bored. I was thinking of giving him some light fiction to entertain him and I was thinking Terry Pratchett. I have only read a couple but I enjoyed them. I am wondering if any of you might recommend one for someone who is likely to only ever read one (it is as grim as that sounds).
Thanks in advance and tell the people you love that you love them.

Guards! Guards! Or Men at Arms. Those were my favorites.
“Guards! Guards!” would be my pick.
Equal Rites (any of The Witches books); Guards!Guards!; Small Gods
So sorry for your friend’s situation, but in so far as it is positive given context, it is good he has a caring, thoughtful friend in you.
Going Postal. This is imo the best standalone with snappiest writing and I just love following a conman forced to go on the straight and narrow.
