it’s been a good couple years since I’ve read it, but I remember reading my schools copy, getting my own copy, then being confused about the ending being different. in the copy I own the ending is Ned and the other guy escaping on a small boat after 17000 leagues then the book ends with them waking up in a fishing hut. But the first version I read ended with a huge storm and Captain Nemo getting stranded on an island or something like that. Am I going crazy or is there more than one ending depending on the version?

The book you read in school sounds a lot like *The Mysterious Island*, which is another Jules Verne book that features Captain Nemo. Maybe the first book you read was both books together in one volume or something similar?
