I’m pretty fascinated by the polar regions and would love to read more about their denizens. There is a wealth of literature from the Arctic (Iceland, Norway, etc), but not a lot from the bits of South America closest to Antarctica. If you know of any titles, I’d love to hear them.

To be clear, I don’t mean literature from the perspective of explorers like Darwin. I would love to discover authors who originate from there. Bonus points if they are Mapuche or from some other indigenous group in the region. Oh, and I’d like novels/novellas, please. 🙂

    1. The Seamstress and the Wind by César Aira. The author is from Argentina, though not from Patagonia region.

Also check works by Maria Sonia Cristoff who is from that region.

Oof – indigenous fiction’s a tough one. All the obvious suggestions fail on both counts (Chatwin’s *In Patagonia*, Theroux’s book etc.)

In case you don’t get any better suggestions, the closest I can think of is {{The Uttermost Part of the Earth by Lucas Bridges}}. Non-fiction, but it is by someone born and raised there.
