My favourite trope in fiction is when there’s a central mystery and we get to intimately know the characters as they are working towards unveiling it. I also appreciate when the author isn’t afraid to put the mystery on a back-burner for a while and let us see the characters’ day to day life and really grow to enjoy their presence. So, typical slice-of-life stuff mixed with a mystery narrative.
I’ve not been reading books since middle school, so it’s unlikely I’ll have read even the best known books, so please suggest me anything.
