\- I like reading, but have recently gotten halfway through a few books before giving up. I don’t feel like I know my style fully yet. I like books that are heavily based on relationships between characters, with lots of dialogue, actions, and emotions. I like books that really help me feel what a person is going through. I have historically read a lot of memoirs, but would like to get more into fiction. One thing I struggle with in books is where there is a lot of descriptive language that is meant to evoke imagery. I struggle with never being able to truly visualize things like this in my mind (for instance, when there is a multiple paragraphs describing a person’s physical features, I often glaze over it). Here are a few examples of books I’ve really liked and disliked over the years. I work in the mental health field, and anything adjacent to that is of interest
\- Liked: All My Rage, Kite Runner, Lords of Discipline, Educated, Born a Crime, A Man Called Ove, Giver of Stars, Anxious People, True Grit, I’m Happy my Mother died, Kitchen Confidential, East of Eden, Where the Crawdads Sing
\- Disliked: Freedom (Jonathan Franzen), The Hobbit, Mrs. Dalloway, a few fantasy books my girlfriend has given me
