So I read a lot of audiobooks — like a LOT — and there are a few recurring things that have stood out to me. One of them is the accents and dialects many readers use. Now I love an accent — but I sometimes wonder how people feel when someone, usually a white person, affects a specific dialect or accent. The one that stands out to me is the “black-cent” that a lot of readers tend to use.
I’m white and American so I have no idea how to feel and it’s obviously not my place to tell others how to feel. What do y’all think?
