There seem to be more than one definition of fictional memoirs online when I’ve tried searching for them. I’m trying to find books that are completely like a memoir or biography of someone’s life, but they’re about a fictional person. I don’t mean fictionalized memoirs or books that blend reality and fiction, I mean entirely fictional, but if you gave this book to someone to read without context, they could believe it’s about a real person. It has that kind of structure, scope, style, etc.

‘Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo’ by Hayden Herrera is a book I find myself suggesting to those who appreciate art and resilience. Herrera’s account of Kahlo’s life reveals the depth of her art, which was deeply influenced by her personal experiences, her suffering, and her intense relationship with Diego Rivera.

[Nat Tate: an American artist](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nat_Tate:_An_American_Artist_1928%E2%80%931960)by William Boyd does just that.
It was presented on publication as the life of a real, forgotten artist. David Bowie and a few others were in on the hoax, talking up their love of Nat’s art etc and fooling the art world, before the truth was revealed a week later.
