I’m not a regular reader however I’m trying to get back into it.
I remember reading a few books as set texts in English Literature which I really liked and remember being short.
The Great Gatsby
Of Mice and Men
The Catcher in the Rye
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Anything in the same category of world classics but can be read in a long return train journey would be great (even if I can’t finish on the train, finishing off at home if it’s a brilliant propulsive read would be fine. The Ken Kesey book above was a prime example. I remember reading it at school and absolutely having to know how Randall was going to get one over the Nurse. What an ending!)

Animal Farm by George Orwell. Short, and a classic for a reason.
Of Mice and Men
