Preferably something short and fast-paced. I don’t mind books that start off kinda slow, as long as the writing’s good 🙂
Currently working my way through Agatha Christie’s works, so please don’t suggest anything by her 😅

Look up Golden Age Detective Novels on Wikipedia – huge number by women. Christie fans tend to like Sayers, Allingham, Heyer , Wentworth and Marsh.
Modern – Donna Leon, Ann Granger, Sara Paretsky and many more.
The other queens of crime are Margery Allingham, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Ngaio Marsh. All are good. Also look into Josephine Tey, P.D. James, Georgette Heyer, Caroline Graham, and M.C. Beaton.
