Just finished our wives under the sea by Julia Armfield, especially loved the submarine parts. I liked the claustrophobic horror/survival aspect but that it wasn’t scary-scary, more unsettling scary. Any other books that have that similar unsettling, or stuck needing to survive type books? Not a fan of super scary but wanting more page turners with that feeling!! Thanks.

One of my favorites I read last year was Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice, a literary apocalyptic suspense set in a northern First Nations reservation. It is more of an unsettling book than a scary one, but with clear nods to Indigenous monster lore.

I’ll always recommend Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer! I read Our Wives since it was the only book I could find recommended that was anything like Annihilation.
