Title says it all but I’ll be more specific
I’ve never finished a book back to front past the mandatory class reading in the classroom in school. I’ve never been hooked by a book or anything like that. If i see an interesting book id usually look up a breakdown on YouTube or something.
However, recently I’ve been listening to a lot of creepypasta YouTube videos and it got me thinking about horror books/ literature.
I know this isn’t how it works but in my head I cant seem to fathom how a book, words on a page with no pictures, can be scary. Disturbing sure, with gore and mature themes and such but actually fear inducing? I cant see how that can happen even though I know it can if that makes sense.
Anyway, cutting to the chase, I’d like recommendations on horror books, preferably not super long, but a hearty sizes story that will finally knock the stupid notion out my head that reading cant induce fear the way say a horror film/ image can.
The main story that got me thinking about this was Borrasca which isn’t long but was fun to listen to.
I’m happy to delve into any themes whether it be non fiction horror or fiction horror.
