Looking for more crime thrillers like the 4 Monkey Killer trilogy. Things that focus more on the detective/killer dynamic and less on the detectives life outside of his work. Also looking for books that have stronger and less predictable mysteries than your typical thrillers

If you liked 4MK you might like The Crucifix Killer by Chris Carter. The MC is an LAPD detective who has a PhD in Criminal Behavior Analysis and works in the homicide special 1 division, dealing with serial killers, high-profile and other homicide cases. The stories are macabre but I couldn’t put it down. This is the first in the series, so if you do enjoy it there are more.
