I’m in a book club and my favorite genre is mystery. At least from what I’ve come across it’s a somewhat male centric genre. I want to find a good mystery book with a woman as the protagonist.
Murder mysteries/detective is great so long as it’s not overly gruesome and veering into horror.
I know this is kind of specific but if you could point me towards an author or novel I would really appreciate it.

The [Pentecost and Parker](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/eb8c7ae9-41b0-442b-b3f1-8e01870fe219) series by Stephen Spotswood!
I love the Maisie Dobbs series by Jaqueline Winspear and The Pentecost and Parker series by Stephen Spotswood. More cozy mysteries than horror.
The Roxane Weary series by Kristin Lepionka
Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple books are the obvious answer
I appreciate the replies I’m going to read some excerpts and find one that I like to share with my BC.
I second the Maisie Dobbs books.
All of Laurie King’s books have female detectives. The Kate Martinelli ones are more modern, her Mary Russell ones are Holmes based. Another female Holmes series is Sherry Thomas’s Charlotte Holmes series. The first one is A Study in Scarlet Women.
PD James had a series w/ Cordelia Grey. The 1st one is An Unsuitable Job for a Woman.
Laura Lippmann, Sue Grafton & Sarah Paretsky. Sarah Caudwell. Marcia Muller.
None of these authors are straight up cozy mystery writers, so I while I dont consider them to be graphic, they aren’t all entirely bloodless.
