I don’t know how this can be learned. But developing a sense of humor about it will definitely help. I like reading books with gallows and self-deprecating humor. Dave Barry’s early works from the 1990s is good. I also thoroughly enjoyed “Visit Sunny Chernobyl” by Andrew Blackwell. Blackwell was an aspiring travel writer who couldn’t get any outlet to send him anywhere, so instead of the describing the places people actually want to he pitched to his editor pretty much the exact opposite of what every travel writer wants: to visit the ten most polluted and dangerous places on earth.
It’s a great read and an excellent example of making the best of your circumstances.
