I’ve read Breast and Eggs, All the Lovers in the Night, Heaven and Ms. Ice Sandwich respectively. I know I’ve heard of the tittle Breast and Eggs at some point so when I saw it at the book store I just decided to pick it up and then later bought and read her other books.
Breast and Eggs, IMO, had a real Dostoevsky vibe where very second the character was alone she would question everything and try to decipher what could be going on in the heads of the people around her, if not the main character then through the perspective of other characters in the book. I always appreciate different perspectives on situations in books and I liked how she managed to weave all different philosophies with her characters. And just like most Dostoevsky there were times I thought the book would be really boring and then as soon as I was about to admit defeat it would pick back up again. I though the second part would be the most boring to get through but it turned out to be my favorite. As for All the Lovers in the Night, not gonna lie but as soon as I finished that book and put it down I had to take a few solid minutes to remember what happened in that book since not a lot did. Not a complaint, it was just about a person trying to figure herself out and what she wants in life, not bad but I was kind of expecting more.
Heaven might be my favorite of hers as well as the most challenging because I had to deal with kids like that too. Even the bullies philosophy upset me, in the good way, because that’s how I interpreted people justifying the way the behave. It freaked me out, again, in the good way. And I’m always a sucker for a cute story, even if it has to weave through things brutal, I still loved the book. And Ms. Ice Sandwich was also a fun read as well.
Anyway, if anyone else has read these books I’d love to know you’re opinions.
