In the past I’ve been a big fan of Wilbur Smith and his series of books on the Courtney and Balentine families. You know the style of books that take you deep into the African interior and being hunted by wildlife and bad guys and the like. I also love books by Conn Iggulden and his historical fiction writing. Especially his Genghis Khan series or The war of the Roses. I have recently ventured out of this style of writing and tried a few classics like Catcher in the Rye (I didn’t really enjoy) and For the Term of His Natural Life (I thought this was a great read as I live in Tasmania and know the area’s talked about). I have also tried some fantasy Vampire books like Jay Kristoff Empire of the Vampire which is great but just doesn’t scratch my adventure survival itch. I really want to get back to some gritty adventure style books like the Wilbur Smith books I have previously mentioned. Can anyone suggest an Author or books that will get me back there?
