I wanted to read John Steinbeck’s “The Grapes of Wrath”. Couldn’t find it at the store, and so bought another one, “Tortilla Flat”.
Wow, it’s amazing. Innocent friends, humorous incidents, great plot and I just loved it. Could anyone help me decide on which book of his to buy next? The Grapes of Wrath or is there any other recommendation?

    1. I’m glad somebody read this kind of obscure book snd enjoyed it. I read this a few years ago during covid and loved all the drinking and raising hell. I had friends like this in my 20’s!

    2. Steinbeck’s *Cannery Row* is in that same mold if you want to run it back. *East of Eden* is great. *Of Mice and Men* is a quick read that hits hard. Hard to go wrong with Steinbeck, really.

Most Steinbeck books are great. East of Eden and The Grapes of Wrath are both big book though, I’d maybe read a few more of his shorter ones first, build up to them. I second Cannery Row, and then it’s follow up Sweet Thursday.

    4. Try and get The Grapes of Wrath, it is awesome. I read it twice and I’ll read it again some day.

Most of his books are fantastic. There’s an anthology of his short stories/novels. That’s really good. I don’t think it matters which you pick next because I think you’re going to end up reading the majority of his work anyway. I’d pick East of Eden first based on nothing
