Books that scratch that one particular itch, where you wanna see someone get powerful, but without being overpowered. More of like a realistic “strongest of all”.

So I was looking for books where the MC isnt just completely overpowered, he is powerful, just nothing like Rezkin, or the wraithking. I recently read sword of Kaigen (10/10 book, btw), and I am now super interested in sword stuff. I think it came from the fact that >!Mamuro died, on his path to greatness, and I want something more!<
