Looking for novels or short fiction that can increase the reader’s empathy by revealing the psychological secrets of the characters, such that that empathy can then be applied in the reader’s life. Where the author explicitly states all the hidden emotions of the character/s, and what thoughts accompany the emotions. Emotions should be conveyed with emotion words as opposed to bodily reactions. Mixed emotions, such as mixtures of anger, fear, and sadness, should be depicted in detail. The emotional responses of the characters should be realistic according to how an actual non-psychotic person might react in a similar situation.

Other desirable content – The characters’ beliefs that underlie their emotions, the characters’ moods, and the characters’ patterns of emotions.

An example is the novel “Call Me by Your Name” where the main character’s contradictory thoughts, feelings, and desires are detailed.
    Thanks!

    1. {{Rebecca}}, though it might be too subtle for you. It sounds like you want something fairly blunt.
