Looking for something in the vain of China Mieville, Vandermeer, and Felix Gilman. Doesn’t have to push weird like Vandermeer or Mieville but maybe closer to Library at Mount Char or the Gone-Away World.
Stuff I’ve read and liked:
All Mieville
All Gaiman
All Gilman
All Vandermeer
All Valente
I’ve dabbled with some works from M. John Harrison and Hal Duncan.
The Gone-Away World is one of my favorite books. Loved Felix Gilman’s Thunderer series.
Bonus if it’s available as an ear-book.

At least for China Mieville I know that he draws a lot of inspiration from Ursula K. LeGuin, Octavia Butler, Angela Carter and H. P. Lovecraft’s works. Probably the other authors as well, since these writers were and remain groundbreaking and their fiction is pretty timeless. A contemporary author that comes to mind for me is Adrian Tchaikovsky (his books are a bit more on the epic/heroic side, but with a fresh angle).
Also check out Ted Chiang’s shortstories 🙂
