I’m curious to hear people’s thoughts or recommendations on books that seem to spark strong reactions, whether extremely positive or negative. What books have you read that you either absolutely loved or vehemently hated? Why do you think they are so polarizing?
I’d love to hear about any titles that you found exceptionally controversial, problematic, or just evoked very intense feelings in you as a reader.

Glass House, imo, is super controversial for quite a few reasons. (Spoilers ahead). Everyone gets gender swapped during the experiment they participate in and the women become forcibly pregnant because there’s no birth control provided. That makes me insanely uncomfortable. Additionally, the book has a somewhat graphic lynching scene. Also made me uncomfortable. Thirdly, they have a character who is Trans … not because she feels like she should have been born female but because when she was a Man she was forced to commit atrocities. To be fair, she feels more comfortable as a female. It worries me how the Rrans community would feel about this. If I hold back my “thinking brain” I love the book (Kevin R. Freeman performed the audiobook which was Fantastic). But when I think too hard about it, those three things bother me. But I think that’s the point, for it to be bothersome
