    SPOILER ALERT

I have just completed the setting sun by Osamu Dazai and this is the second piece I read from this author (the first one was “No longer human”). To me, this is so far the best work of him, I find it better than No longer human in a certain way, especially in describing the flow of thoughts and psychological motives for behaviours of the characters. Besides, it expresses such loss, fear, anxiety, anguish, and futility of Kazuko, Mama, Naoji and Uehara as well as the generation of social and moral crisis so well that I somehow could imagine their sufferings even I was never born at some equivalent period. Definitely worth to read. However, there are some things I still question now is that:

    is Suga Uehara’s wife?

When Kazuko mentioned revolution, did it imply her seeking of joy and free will? did it also underly author’s hope? if it was a revolution, what revolved and transformed in contemporary society then? what was exactly traditional and new morality as he mentioned? Since I do not have a good understanding of Japan society history of the war time

I appreciate any of your answer
