    Spoilers.

I am currently at the end of Part Four, where Vronsky shot himself and Anna was ‘dying’. I love the book so far but found most of the characters annoying in an interesting way, besides Levin, who was pretty good, and Oblonsky, who was also annoying but funny.

First of all, I can’t stand the chapters focused on Anna, ever since the part where she had an affair with Levin. Most of her thoughts are just whining and self-pity. I especially hated how she almost always try to justify cheating with her husband, and as far as I understand, the point of her character was supposed to be that we should sympathize her, and in general, women in 18th century Russia who aren’t treated with the same respect as the men.

And as I’m reading it through, all her problems could be solved by literally just talking to her husband. About how she thinks he’s not giving her more time, attention, etc., like she says. Karenin is also annoying but as we see in the part where Anna was supposed to be dying of childbirth he is not that bad of a person Anna paints him out to be, and he has in fact a capability for change, like how he genuinely forgave her, and Vronsky, and repented on his mistakes, and even grown attached go Anna and Vronsky’s child.

I’m partly speaking from personal experience where someone has done me wrong, yet I’m a hundred percent willing to forgive them if they simply just own up to it. That’s how I felt about the whole situation.

    Any thoughts?
