I’m currently in one of the worst reading slumps I’ve had in a while. I have started so many books recently and have failed to have any desire to continue reading.

This comes after a major Sanderson binge and a reread of The Ember Blade.

Things I’ve loved in the past year or two: The entirety of Stormlight Archive, Mistborn era 1, Tress, Amina Al Sirafi, The Bone Shard Daughter (Another one where book 2 is proving challenging to dive into), The Last House on Needless Street, Priory of the Orange Tree, Sundial.

Things I find especially interesting: vibrant and not-dark fantasy worlds, fun magic systems, edge-of-your-seat thrillers, weirdo serial killer thrillers, ultra spooky supernatural horror, cool and weird creatures (either in fantasy or horror), KILLER audiobook narration.

Things I’m less into: Excessive and unbelievable twists, thrillers or horror that boil down to family dramas, fantasy that is majority political/war, super smutty/romance-dominant fantasy, and (just for the moment) anything that can be described as confusing or that you have to push through a lot of preamble.

Books I’ve failed at sticking with recently: I’ve attempted to start with The Shadow Casket (Next book after Ember Blade), Godkiller, The Blade Itself, Yumi and the Night Painter, the Sword of Kaigen, The Will of the Many, The Ninth Rain, Foundryside, and Jade City, Gideon the Ninth. I got through The Only One Left by Riley Sager and hated it. (Note: I’m certain I’ll be able to revisit some of these and enjoy them in the future but for some reason I can’t seem to enjoy them at this moment in time).

Please throw me suggestions! I desperately need help getting out of this slump.
