It’s funny, as a reader of both fiction and non-fiction, I love natural science and history, yet these sort of themes haven’t crept into my novel selection.
So, what are some of your favorites? I’d love a novel where a protagonist is into birding, or gardening, or nature explorations, etc. Additionally, novels where prominent characters are wildflife biologist (related or unrelated to birds), ecologist, and so forth. The sort of book where I might learn a lot about ecosystems, or the wonder and plight our natural world faces.
I’m open to genre– a slow-burn book with magical realism or a page-turning thriller– just as long as it includes the aforementioned themes.
Thanks so much, y’all.

Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver comes to mind.
