Hi, I’m looking for gothic, dark, suspenseful, (maybe romantic), weird but beautifully written books like “Carmila” by Sheridan Le Fanu, “Lolita” by Vladimir Nabokov, “Mina” by Kim Sagwa, “Helter Skelter” by Kyoko Okazaki, «a certain hunger» by Chelsea Summers, “Bunny” by Mona Awad but with male protagonist

Checks all your boxes except the male protagonist part: The Thirteenth Tale
The Magus by John Fowles.
The Devourers by Indrapramit Das
Rebecca
Nabokov’s ‘Ada, or Ardor’ certainly fits that description. It’s dark, deeply weird (much weirder than Lolita), and beautiful – Nabokov clearly took such delight in playing with language. For something shorter, ‘Pale Fire’ is also incredible – it’s a long poem, with the story unfolding in the footnotes written by an eccentric and possibly mad scholar obsessed with the poet.
