I have a bunch of my books in storage and hadn’t been to check on my storage unit in a few months. Last weekend my roommate moved out so I’ve decided to turn the empty bedroom into an office/space for all of my books. So I went to the storage unit to grab some of them to start and noticed that a bunch of boxes of books have rat poop inside on a lot of my books. And unfortunately these are all super collectable books that had cost an arm and a leg to get, or are just impossible to find now. Art and photography books mostly.
I can’t tell if there is any urine on the books – I was going to buy a little UV light to try and see. But does anyone have any advice on how to salvage these books? Unsure if I can save all of them, but if possible I’d like to try and save what I can.
Two boxes there weren’t any rat feces so I emptied the books into a new bin and brought them home. But they aren’t as important to me. So devastated as I thought this was a really nice storage unit, had great reviews, etc. So I assumed my stuff was going to be safe for the time being.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
