Unpopular opinion but this book was a bore. I’m sure I will get attacked from all angles about that because Stephen King is supposed to be one of the best.
I read Verity by Colleen Hoover and was disturbed yet intrigued by her raw and deep writing. I loved it. I couldn’t put the book down. I thought Stephen King would be doing the same if not better. Unfortunately he is not for me. I don’t care to read another book of his cause it was just so boring. Not to mention crazy long.
After Verity I read The Housemaid by Frida McFadden. It was ok. I felt there was a lot of mystery and I was bracing for impact but in the end, everything was swept under the rug too easily. And then I read The Shining.
Can anyone suggest books similar to Verity? I’m looking for verbally graphic and dark material.
After The Shining, paranormal content is not my thing.

Oh, I can’t imagine any Stephen King fans being particularly perturbed with someone who loved Verity and found The Shining “crazy long” going off to find their bliss elsewhere. You do you!
The shining was an absolute slog. When I read dr. Sleep I expected the same. Absolutely loved that book so much. It’s in my top 3 of kings books and top 10 all time
Why didn’t you just make a post asking for books like Verity?
