Lots of older pulp sci fi has this. For example, the short fiction of Keith Laumer or Philip K. Dick. You can find a bunch of their work free online if it is out of copyright. The websites FreeSFOnline, Project Gutenberg, and SFFAudio are some places where you can find pulp sci fi in the public domain.

The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury is another.
