I have 3 weeks until I find out if my current pregnancy (and the last we will ever manage as it was our last embryo) is viable or if they have the same non-genetic defect their older sister had and we’ll loose them too and go on to live a childless life.
To say I am a little stressed is a bit of an understatement; I am desperate for distraction but my ability to brain is also somewhat shot, so authors like Schwab, or books like Piranesi, which were next on my TBR pile, are too complex for me to be able to focus on them.
Does anyone have any recommendations? No level of trashy is too low, but I will admit to detesting stupid main characters or obvious plot holes. I have recently reread the entirety of Ilona Andrew’s catalogue, all of Novik, the coherent non-porn bits of Laurell K Hamilton, a lot of Drew Hayes, all of T Kingfisher, and everything Rachel Aaron has ever written.
Happy endings are vastly preferred, and I generally tend towards books that have fmcs.

My Sister the Serial Killer is a short book that had me hooked! Pretty easy to read iirc.
