I am looking for books that can open up my mind to different ideologies and theories. As a young person I don’t want a single lane mind, i want to read literature which can give me different perspective on people and life in general.

Even fiction and political topics are welcome . For context i am Indian if it helps.

    1. If we’re talking about philosophical fiction, then Fyodor Dostoevsky is a really hard-hitter if you’re open to European-style classics. His books question a wide breadth of ideas, from morality to poverty to human manipulation, so I always give him first and foremost when people ask for philosophical fiction.

On top of that, I would also recommend The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. The book tells the story of a half-French, half-Vietnamese political prisoner arrested for operating as an undercover communist agent during the Vietnam War, and deals with complex topics like dualism in identity, immigration, and the Americanization of the Vietnam War.
